Dime appears to be missing the last number in the date
I'm not much of a collector for numismatic value, but I was looking through change and saw this dime:

Re: Dime appears to be missing the last number in the date
It looks like the I and WE are missing also. Picture is not that clear, but it looks like the rim is worn too. It looks like a circulated worn dime to me. I'd say it is worth about $0.10.
Keep looking through your change. You never know what you will find. Last month I got a wartime silver nickel. :bear_thumb: |
Re: Dime appears to be missing the last number in the date
Yes it's an interesting wear pattern as the I and WE are pretty well worn away too... That last number sure did disapear though. At least in the picture.
.10 cents. |
Re: Dime appears to be missing the last number in the date
It's possible that the dime was struck through grease, and that's why the details are missing or weak. Hard to tell for sure from the picture though, but the other option is just unusual wear patterns.

Re: Dime appears to be missing the last number in the date
I was wondering if maybe it was a grease strike, from what I'd read before. Other than that, though, there don't appear to be any other noticeable wear patterns.

I have one too:
http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/5821/cions001wm9.jpg I'm pretty sure it's a grease strike through. I started a thread about mine too, a little over a year ago: http://goldismoney.info/forums/showthread.php?t=326989 |

Those are cool dimes. It does seem to be errors on the coins, so the value is higher.
